Sarah Ruhl explores the meaning female sexuality during the Victorian era, shortly after the invention of the vibrator. Doctors would use a vibrator to cure a woman of "hysteria," aka over excitement. My lighting design focused on depicting the aesthetic of early electric lighting fixtures and the wonderment of discovering personal pleasure.
